The Edinburgh Filmhouse is one of Scotland’s ‘leading independent’ cinemas, commemorating films from all over the world. It is in connection with the Edinburgh International Film festival which takes place there every year.

Filmhouse first opened in 1978 on Lothian Road in a former church beginning with only a 90-seat screen. Fast forward to 1985: a second screen was added alongside a bar and in 1997, Cinema 3 was built.

They celebrate a range of films from different countries and decades, often restoring classics as well as holding themed nights.
